April is a busy month for the Lena Library. We were fortunate enough to have Mrs. Bloom's 3rd grade class from the Lena Elementary School come for a tour this week. They had many great questions and showed a lot of interest in the library. This coming week, we will welcome another class. This group of students is from the Maranatha School. One of the students just won an impressive award using information gleaned from our library materials.
Our writer's club will meet on Monday, April 21 at 5pm. New members are always welcome. Book club meets Thursday, April 24 from 7pm-9pm. Our book selection is "The Innocent Man" by John Grisham. Preschool story time is on Friday at 10:30. Come in and see our new Bookapalooza award books. For those who don't know, that means about 1,000 new picture books to read! We have started putting them out, so stop by-and bring the kids!

Be our friend!
I’m sad to report that our little library has very few friends. Month after month, our tireless Friends group meets, and looks forlornly at the front doors hoping that maybe, possibly, a few more people might want to join the fold. But no one comes. This could be because the outside world is intimidated about how wonderful and productive our little group is. They might figure that the Lena group is so intelligent, self-sufficient and fun that they may not have enough to bring to the table that would make them stand out. But I am here to tell you that this is just not the case! In Lena, we tend to bring out the best in people and we know that there are several enthusiastic community members with ideas that could completely change the way Friends groups everywhere operate. Lena could take over the world if we just had your help!!! So, I beg of you, please stop by the library and join our organization. We would love to have you, and can offer up a fun environment that supports your favorite community organization—the library! We meet the first Monday of every month at 6pm.

More volunteering!!!!
The library is in need of some volunteers for Dairyfest, which will be held Saturday, September 8th. There are several areas of need, including running the food stand, selling books at the book sale or walking in the parade to pass out bookmarks and candy. We also would love some help with paper mache-ing our ginormous cow! Call the library or stop by to sign up!
